Art Feature: An Exploration of Cottagecore

Cottagecore is an aesthetic trend that grew in popularity over the late 2010s and early 2020s, and it serves as a celebration of living simply and being in harmony with nature. Like the Romanticism and Arts and Crafts movements of the past, cottagecore takes inspiration from a simpler way of life. The aesthetic is inspired by countryside and woodland locations, and often features natural color schemes, as well as the embracing of traditional activities (such as baking bread, gardening, and handmade crafts). In fashion and textiles, cottagecore-inspired clothing and decor is usually flowy, often featuring delicate floral prints and inspiration from the past, particularly romantic revival and shabby chic. Art with cottagecore aesthetic frequently includes scenes and settings with woodlands, meadows, cottages, gardens, mushrooms, picnics, and fields, to name a few common features.
